Description
There's nothing more important than protecting your identity. Responsibly destroying sensitive documents is a smart way to stay safe. Please join us for Shred Day on Saturday, May 17th from 9 a.m. - 12 Noon. Every ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees, so feel free to bring your friends and loved ones (and their old documents) along! We'll also be collecting non-perishable food items to help those in need for Lunch Break, a community kitchen and food bank that helps feed the hungry in our area. If you don't have any documents for shredding, feel free to drop off your food items for donation and share a cup of coffee and a snack with us.
Remember that it's important to shred certain documents rather than tossing them in the regular trash. Shredding documents with identifying and personal information will ensure that your sensitive information, and therefore your identity, cannot be stolen. Documents that must be shredded for secure disposal include:
- Tax documents
- Applications
- Credit card statements
- Bank statements and cancelled checks
- Investment statements and paperwork
- Expired credit cards
- Junk mail
- Medical prescription labels
- Old photos and old IDs
- Travel itineraries
- Shipping labels
- Memos, notes, or any paperwork that could contain passwords or identifying information
